Our scope is straight forward – we:

• Source high quality hybrid battery components from O/S.
• Sell hybrid battery components, on a changeover basis, as well as the required accessories to workshops at a trade price for them to install.
• Sell fully installed hybrid battery solutions to retail customers – for install at either our site or other workshops.
• Provide technical support to workshops to assist with removal, replacement and installation works.

Smarter Choice Auto is an independent workshop that services and repairs fleet and personal vehicles.

For 4 years we have been installing replacement hybrid battery packs purchased from a local supplier. We found it hard to make decent margins on the work, and figured that other workshops would be in the same boat.

We dug deep into the world of hybrid batteries, the process, and the manufacturers, and realised that by approaching the work slightly differently we could not only charge double or triple the labour on each job, we could also get the same parts margin on lower part prices.

So that’s exactly what we started doing!

While we did this originally for ourselves, we realised that this same model works for all workshops, and more hours sold and greater parts margins is always a good thing!

The big hurdle of this approach facing workshops is sourcing parts for the occasional job at decent prices given overseas shipping rates, the challenges of identifying and managing O/S suppliers, and the cost of equipment and tooling – so Smarter Choice Hybrid Battery Solutions was created to import product into Australia, and then ship to local workshops, so that they can benefit.
